Ingersoll Rand Supports Ford/AAA & SkillsUSA

Student, Technician, Ford, AAA, Ingersoll Rand, Contest, Winners
Ingersoll Rand Vehicle Services is a corporate sponsor of the Ford/AAA Student Auto Skills and SkilllsUSA and has recently completed its participation in the National Career Fairs of both organizations that took place earlier this summer.

Ingersoll Rand was in Dearborn, Michigan the week of June 12th for the Ford/AAA Student Auto Skills national competition that took place on the grounds of the Ford Motor Company World Headquarters. This competition is co-sponsored by AAA and Ford Motor Company to encourage talented young people to pursue careers as automotive service technicians. This is a nationwide competition for 11th and 12th grade students in secondary schools and colleges (serving high schools) that offer courses in automotive technology and have at least one full-time or part-time automotive instructor.

Schools may enter one two-person team per instructor and these teams compete first at the state level by taking a qualifying exam leading to the “hands-on” state finals where new Ford Motor Company vehicles are uniformly “bugged” so that each team has identical malfunctions to diagnose and repair. The winning two-person team from each state and their instructor are provided expense-paid trips to the national finals in Dearborn in June. Ingersoll Rand Company is proud to support this premier national automotive skills competition through its corporate sponsorship of the event, as well as its donation of special student air tools kits to the top three finishing teams in Dearborn.

SkillsUSA is a national nonprofit organization serving teachers and high school and college students who are preparing for careers in trade, technical and skilled service occupations. It was formerly known as VICA (Vocational Industrial Clubs of America). More than 300,000 students and advisors join SkillsUSA annually, organized into more than 17,000 sections and 54 state and territorial associations. SkillsUSA has served more than 10.5 million members since its inception in 1965.

SkillsUSA programs include local, state and national competitions in which students demonstrate occupational and leadership skills. At the annual national-level SkillsUSA Championships held each July at the Kansas City Convention Center, over 5,500 students compete in over 94 occupational and leadership skill areas. Ingersoll Rand is a proud corporate sponsor of SkillsUSA as well as an exhibitor at the 3-day TECHSPO, the nation’s largest trade show for technical education. Ingersoll Rand also donates air tool kits to select winning teams in the Kansas City national competition.
