Frost & Sullivan Presents 2009 United States Automotive Technicians’ Choice Award for Overall Best Brand of Air Compressors to Ingersoll Rand

Davidson, NC - February, 24 2010 (NYSE:IR) - On the basis of Frost & Sullivan’s independent research, 2009 United States Automotive Technicians’ Choice: Evaluation of Automotive Tools, Ingersoll Rand emerged as the overwhelming leader in the air compressor category surveyed among U.S. automotive technicians.

“The survey results showed Ingersoll Rand as the leading brand of air compressors among experts who routinely use this type of product: automotive technicians,” says Tonya Fowler, Global Director with Frost & Sullivan’s Customer Research Team.. “However, we are not surprised by the positive results toward Ingersoll Rand, as this is the second consecutive year that Ingersoll Rand has been voted the Overall Best Brand of Air Compressors.”

In recent years, Ingersoll Rand transformed itself into a multi-brand commercial products manufacturer serving customers in diverse global markets and away from the capital-intense, heavy-machinery profile of its past. Overall, 22 percent of U.S. automotive technicians surveyed use Ingersoll Rand as their primary air compressor products. Most impressive, one-quarter (25 percent) of automotive technicians ranked Ingersoll Rand as their #1 product.

Overall, Ingersoll Rand garnered 38 percent of the votes – as one of the top-three overall best brands of air compressors – among the 400 U.S. automotive technicians surveyed. Its nearest competitor came in a distant second with 17 percent of the votes. Thus, it is easy to see why Ingersoll Rand is being recognized as the “Overall Best Brand of Air Compressors” given its strong brand reputation and loyal customers. This recognition reiterates the company’s superiority in customer support, quality, price, and global service.
